So, as most of you know this year we are homeschooling George. Kindergarten is going to be lots of fun and a challenge. I'm looking forward to it and so is George. He will be starting class on August 20th. I haven't looked far ahead to schedule breaks or the end of the year. I think it will just be when we finish all the curriclulum I have planned. As we get closer I get more excited. I have got the office set up to double as the class room! I am missing a few things, just wall decorations but I like it!

And this is from the top of the stairs, you can see my desk again, filing cabinet with printer on top (nice to have it right next to my chair) and the white board (thanks again gamma, recyled from her office!)
Not only have I got the office/classroom set up. I started making my very own "file folder games" these are really neat games that you make using a file folder. I have finished two, but have 7 more that need finishing! I just got tired of lamenating with packing tape. I orded self laminating papers today, and plan on buying a home lamenating machine to help.
First I made
"Cupcake Count" This was super simple to make. I did lamenate (with tape) each of the little cupcakes, and then all the little cupcake matches. The matches are cupcakes with little cherrys ontop. The game is basic count the cherrys and find the corresponding number it matches.
Next I made
"Alphabet Hearts" The matching pieces are the lowercase abc's in the sape of hearts. Just match the letters. I laminated the whole inside of this folder and all the little hearts.
I was super proud of these games and how simple they where to make. I will add photos of the rest of them as I finish them. George will love these games, and I am sure they will help with recognizing the numbers and matching the abc's.
When I made the decision to homeschool I was caught up on one thing. Curiculum. What do I do? But that shouldn't have been the question it should be what will work for George? Each child is diffrent. George used the books made from
school zone for preschool and they worked great. So after spending a lot of time looking their everything they offered I finally settled on a list of books, flashcards and misc things to help us achieve our goals this year in school. I will share our goals once school starts and we sit down and talk about them. These books are amazing. So after finally submitting my order it all came in the form of a 15.5pound box that arrived today.
I was very excited to open it. I felt like a child at christmas time. Each thing I pulled out I carefully laid in a strategic way to get the best overall photo.
Then of course I felt that didn't show it all off good enough
Three sets of flash cards, Sight words, Numbers 0-25, and Alphabet Fun
Math books, Get Ready for Math, Transition Math, and Math Readiness
Big Mazes and more. George loves loves mazes. This book is 320 pages, so hopefully itll keep him occupied.

Kindergarten Spelling Bee (its a magnetic book)
These four are write and reuse books. their all fully laminated so we can use them over and over we got, Alphabet Fun, Numers Fun, Tracing Fun and Printing Fun
Through out the year we will of course find more things to do, but these books are my basic curiculum to follow..... Throught our year I will update this blog, and you all can follow along the path of our school.
