So with school a little over two weeks away I have found myself very busy getting ready! I ordered some self laminating paper off amazon.com, I got a roll that was 12inches wide by 36foot long, well after the last three days of working on everything I am already out! Looks like I will be ordering some more, but I got the stuff I needed to get done, done. I also made my first scholastic book order. I will post more about that when the shipment comes in, but I am very excited to receive it.
So with all the laminating paper I got right on top of finishing all my file folders games. Here is what I got.
(Don't mind the date stamps, I hadn't used this camera in YEARS! But neither my nor Roberts laptops have the right memory space for the memory card in my camera, and our external reader doesn't either, looks like I know what I am doing once I finish this post) Anyhow I decided a simple fun way to introduce George to the "File Folder Game" was with a game called Dress the Bear Its that simple. It came with a few different outfits, Doctor, Missionary, Clown, Pajamas, Baseball, and Military.
I also did Alpha Animals Just match the animals to the letter their name starts with. Some of these are going to be a little tricky but George will figure it out in time.
Cupcake Patterns was the next one I did. I printed all the patterns and picked the ones I liked and cut the last cupcake off. The patterns are fixed and the last cupcakes are the playing pieces. I used the pattern ABAB,AABB and then the last four are harder with the pattern ABCABC
To help with learning odd and even numbers I chose to make Some Odd Pumpkins Just stack the pumpkins on the correct wagon.
Acorn Addition was one of the more difficult games I made. I didn't like the math equations they had so I used this leaf template and this acorn template and made my own math equations.
With Acorn Subtraction I used the same templates as I did for the acorn addition.
For the game Dino Eggs I found that just matching the colors was to simple for George, but if I used the name of the color then it would be more challenging so I used this egg template and wrote the names of the colors on them for him to match.
I got the idea for Pumpkin Numbers from this template for abc's, but since I had already made two games with the alphabet I wanted another number game. So I printed of the cover page and edited the words to make it fit for numbers then used this template for the pumpkins which I just wrote the abc's on. I used the white pumpkins to hold the place of the missing numbers and all the shaded in pumpkins have the numbers on them.
These file folder games are going to be a big asset to our class and I can't wait to show George. He has been watching me prep everything in the office/classroom and is super excited to start school as well. But no class would be complete without a
Lesson Plan Book. I already have the first week for the most part mapped out. I also gave up finding the correct size abc/123 chart so I made my own, and laminated it. I also have the American flag up where it belongs
I ran out of space on my desk for all the supplies I have found so I had to clear a shelf off in the laundry room to put everything on.
Overall I am very happy with how things have been coming along. So now that I have shared what I have been up to in preparations for kindergarten I will end this and update again soon. Have a great day!
