My First Scholastic Book Order!

Yesterday a box came via ups. I was over the moon happy to receive it.
The book box is here! After first being shocked out how big the box was considering I didn't order that many books I was so happy to open it and marvel at all the great books I ordered. Of course I had to carefully lay them out and take a picture.

The books we got are
-Amelia Bedelia's First Day of School
-Bears Loose Tooth
-Pete the Cat Rocking in My School Shoes
-No, David
-David goes to School
-Hiccupotamus
-The Chimpansneeze
-Froggy Builds  a Tree House
-Clifford's Best School Day
-I Spy School
-There was an Old Lady Who Swallowed Some Books
-Dino Pets go to School
-What are you so Grumpy About

Some of thees books I will make lessons to go with them, first up is Amelia Bedelia's First Day of School.  Now for those of you who don't know much about the Scholastic Book club let me tell you about it. Remember back in grade school you would occasionally get this flyer with cheap books, we all would take them home and beg our parents to buy them, some of you if you had parents like mine never did. Well this is that book club. About a month ago I decided it would be nice for us to have a book club and I looked into some. I didn't want to pay for books that I wouldn't like so I really wanted something I could pick what I wanted, if I wanted something and pay for that only. I found scholastic on google but they only work with schools. I was pretty bummed so I left a message on their facebook page and got a reply to email them and they would be able to talk more with me about it. Well for homeschooling families they make them a school so we can order as well! Within a week I was set up and ready to go. I did have to wait until August 1, they don't run anything over the summer so August 1 was the first day to log on and look at the books. I was very happy and by August 2nd I had my order placed. Placing an order was also very easy and you get what they call reward points. For every dollar you spend you get 1 point, and right now if you spend 20 dollars or more you get 5x the amount of points! So I currently have 130, and those points you can use to order things like books, pencils, misc school supplies even tvs, laptops, ipads. Although I am sure we wont collect enough for those items its still nice to see because schools can collect them!

While I was placing my order not only did I find cheap books they have a special right now through I believe September 31, spend $20 get $15 to spend. Now being me I figure ok I will prolly get a coupon save 15 off a purchase of some amount. I picked my books and the total was $23 and some change (also spend $20 and get free shipping) so I go to the next screen which tells me I have spent $20 and qualify for a $15 reward and gives me the option to pick the books now. So I didn't even have to wait! I got all of those books (13) for $23. Normally would have been $38. So I was very happy about that. Then since it was my first time ordering I also was set to receive 10, $5 free book coupons which came with my box.

These are set for 2 per month. So 2 for September/October, 2-November, 2-December, 2-January, and 2-February.  Also it states on the coupon good for one free book valued at $5 on a purchase of $20 or more, so I probably wont use all of them, but a few I will for sure!

So that's the info about the Scholastic Book Club. Right now if I refere someone and when they make their first purchase we both get 250 bonus points, so if anyone is interested just leave me a comment and I will get with you about my account number for you to use. This is a great club because you only pay for what you want. You don't have to order anything every month, theirs no minimum to spend per time period. Nothing! Its just like ordering anything online, but with better prices! Well I need to go for now. I should be back next week to share how are first day of school went!

  1. Seeing all of this makes me so excited! Its the teacher in me =D I have a lot of good lesson ideas if you ever get stumped; most of the stuff is easily accessed online though! I've been so busy its insane, but I promise we'll catch up as soon as I get a day off work. Good luck with everything!
